Just finished rereading 'A Kingdom Of Dreams' by none other than Judith McNaught. It's been such a long time since I first read the book. Never forget how handsome Royce Westmorland was(hihi) but I forgot about the situation I was in the last time I read it. Well, it happened again today. 'I Like You, Then I Hate You, But I Love You' is referring to our most lovely(to Royce),annoying(to both Royce & I but more to me) and stubborn as hell(Royce & I both agree equally this time) Jennifer Merrick. Grrr....the whole time I was reading, I was prepared to strangle her neck, her father's neck , her stepbrother's neck , her damn cursed family's neck for being so ridiculous and faulty and awful .And for good reason(jealous), I also wished to strangle Royce's neck for being such a fool and still love her after what she's done to him. Aaahh..after all, we are all fools in love. And Royce was not an exception despite him being the 'wolf' for his callousness in battlefields. I adore him for being so gentle towards Jenny because, were I in his place, I would've beaten her and treated her with coolness and remained aloof. Guess I am not romantic enough to write romances but still enough to appreciate good stories. There, there, let me tell you how stupid Royce was, decisions beclouded with love toward Jenny. He even tried to get himself killed just to keep his word to Jenny(noble indeed but stupid) . I cried twice. TWICE!! First was definitely for Royce who was willing to sacrifice his life because she blamed him for killing her brother(stepbrother) which in my eyes, I'd say it looked rather like accident than purposely done which was true but of course Jenny wouldn't believe him. She also convinced not only herself that Royce was a beast(well wolf as people called him) but Royce himself that he killed her brother in cold blood and eventually made him take all the blame. I hate her. Please don't hate me, read the novel first and you will understand my feeling. Out of 438 pages, for about 300 pages of my 'journey' in the story, all I can think about was hatred. And that led to my second weep. Well not exactly weeping, I'd rather say I was bawling with hatred towards none other than Jennifer 'The Merrick Slut (stated in the book for very good reasons indeed) . You know what I hate about her the most? Our besotted, handsome, strong, powerful, fool Royce Westmorland, the first Duke Of Claymore, the Wolf of war, the king's favourite finally said he loved her and to my utter disbelieve there was no moment suit for any 'aww' like other moments like this kind. I cant 'aww' when Jenny decided to refuse his declaration of love. HATE her! I will kill to hear him say that words to me(all McNaught's heroes to be precise). If I were in his place, I would find another human being with BRAIN and bright enough to not throw the words back to my face. She also publicly humiliated her husband by defying him , treated him like he was nothing but a piece of cold mutton(exaggerating), denied his rights, and refused to be sided with him at the tournament and went to her bloody family. How can I like someone who treated my hero like that?? Poor Royce. But in the end, I love her and even respect her. No wonder all this time Royce kept treating her gently and be so patience. What exactly did she do to make my opinion to her change 360 degree, dramatically?? Prepare yourself for something so poignant and tender and beautiful. Haaa Jenny, I'm sorry for calling you names. She was actually knelt in front of her terribly injured husband who was in my opinion a wonder he didn't die, begging for forgiveness and by doing that she was actually defied her family and her king and her country(she's a scot) and it was so memorable that I ached for both of them. They'd been through so many things. Oh yeah, it was also the time I 'aww' . Hehe.. awwwww....Jenny I was so wrong about you. There you go, you have my blessing, be happy and produce heir to inherit the dukedom. Oooppsss, there were Clayton Westmorland, the 9th Duke Of Claymore already produced the 10th Duke Of Claymore in 'Whitney, My Love' . Awww.... make sure you read the novels of Westmorland's family. Be nice!! :)
